ElectrifyHaiti

Partners

Build it
with us.

Electrify Haiti is looking for funders and builders who want to see a cleaner, brighter Haiti — and a model other cities can copy.

Who we’re looking for

Five kinds of
partner.

Foundations and funds

Philanthropic foundations, sovereign and development funds that back clean energy, sanitation and economic development.

Impact investors

Investors looking for infrastructure with measurable social and environmental returns.

Engineering teams

Landfill design, gas systems, solar, grid and environmental assessment.

Equipment suppliers

Electric trucks, liners, gas cleaning, engine-generators, solar panels and batteries.

Community partners

Organisations rooted in Cap-Haïtien and Vaudreuil who can shape the service around the people it serves.

Questions, answered

Understand
the idea.

Where will the project be?

In Vaudreuil, near Cap-Haïtien in northern Haiti. The exact parcel will be confirmed after checks for land title, flooding, groundwater, access and the nearby airport.

Do you burn the garbage?

No. There is no incinerator and no open burning. The only fuel is gas captured from sealed landfill cells and cleaned before it reaches the engines.

Why not make electricity from all the trash right away?

Food and other organic waste produce gas as they break down, and a new landfill takes time to build up a steady supply. Plastic, metal and glass produce no gas at all — so they are recycled. That is why solar leads in the first phase and gas follows.

Will electricity really be free?

Every connected home will receive a free basic allowance. Businesses and households that use more pay for the extra. The size of the allowance will be set from real operating numbers so it can always be honoured.

How will people be paid for waste?

Collection points will weigh what residents bring in and pay for it. The rate will be set in the first phase, based on what the recycled materials and the energy are worth.

How much will it cost?

The first phase is estimated at $8–10 million. That is a preliminary figure; supplier quotations and site studies in phase one will confirm it.

How will funds be managed?

Through an accountable project organisation with its own bank account, spending controls and regular public reporting. Funding is arranged directly with our team, never through this website.

Who is behind Electrify Haiti?

Electrify Haiti is an initiative of MAC4 Design. We are assembling the technical, community and funding partners needed to take it from concept to a working first phase.
